Food and drinks were delicious with a good amount of vegetarian options, and able to easily customize the dishes. Also very reasonably priced. Unfortunately Cafe is just too small for how busy they are so wait time for a table can be long on a weekend.

Our first time visiting this coffee shop, not just because it's high rating, but also because it's one of the few speciality coffee shops in Brisbane that offer beans from Ona Roaster. As coffee hobbyists we have high expectation on coffees, and we were not disappointed. They offer rotating SOE. The batch brew was very clean with complex aroma, one of the best batch brews in town. Flat White was perfectly made with a thin layer of micro foams. Food was not ordinary. Their Unagi soup rice (Japanese style eel) was one of the best in town, the dressing soup 茶漬 had a fresh seaweed umami. The Ebi Katsu Sando (prawn patty) was fried in traditional tempura / Katsu style with thin crispy skin, not greasy at all, and prawn paste was juicy! The bread had thin crispy crust and fluffy inside. Good match with lettuce in the sando. The barista was professional, knowledgable, talkative, and enthusiastic about speciality coffee. We enjoyed our experience there. Alert: this is a very popular cafe, so help yourself to "sign" in when you arrive and be prepared to wait a bit before you are assigned a table. Or order a cuppa and enjoy it on the bench while waiting.

The food was better than expected, and the pistachio matcha latte was absolutely to die for, such a pleasant surprise! There was a 20–30 minute wait on a Sunday morning, which was reasonable, though the signage for joining the queue could have been clearer. Overall, a great experience. I’d definitely come back to try more of the menu and their desserts.

This cafe is very popular on the weekends. We came with a group or 8 friends and was seated at the high table but the table was quite uncomfortable as there is no leg space. Special mention to the Pistachio Matcha Latte. There was a very strong roasted pistachio flavour and was excellent. The coconut cloud matcha was okay. The bagel and sando was slightly dry. Not sure if there was a toasted option but toasted would probably have been better. There is a carpark next to the cafe but when we were there, it was full and parking was a bit of an issue for us. Price-wise, it was reasonable. The cafe is pet-friendly and great for those who wish to bring their pets along.

Wow wow wow - I’m in love with this place and their menu and everything. I wish I could live somewhere close by and come back here every week. I came by myself after seeing all the reels on Insta and had to travel for an hour but so so worth it. I ordered their pistachio matcha latte on almond milk unsweetened, a plain matcha bagel and the salmon sashimi Chazuke. The pistachio matcha latte on almond milk was divine. It had a nice nutty touch and you could really taste the pistachio which was not too overpowering. The salmon chazuke was also just perfect. I loved their presentation and the portion size. It is served with hot dashi stock that you can pour over yourself which is part of the experience :) The staff is super friendly and I felt immediately very welcomed here.

My hunt for authentic Japanese unugs has ended at this cute corner cafe in the Southside of Brisbane. Since coming back from Japan my life has been consumed by a search for that delectable flavour that only quality unagi can deliver. I can confidently say that my tastebuds have been satiated since visiting Eight Ounce Cafe. The unagi was so flavourful and soft. We also got the pork belly and it was so soft and delicious. The jasmine matcha latte was delicious and the perfect amount of matcha personally. Definitely got transported back to Japan when eating this.
